We can hold space for you. We can drive you. We can advocate for you.
Scope of Practice
The Sudbury Manitoulin Abortion Support Collective is a non-partisan, 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusive organization of volunteers aiming to provide confidential, free support and advocacy for persons in need of abortion in the Greater Sudbury and Manitoulin Island district to ensure full access. We are located in Robinson-Huron Treaty territory and the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg. There are many barriers in the current Canadian healthcare system which actively prevent and hinder those who require abortions. We want to ease that burden.
Our volunteers are AJ, Amber Lee, Andréa, and Cait.
Thank you to Shannon Hardy with Abortion Support Services Atlantic for training and support. More information about her training can be found here: ASSA.

Access: In the Greater Sudbury and Manitoulin Island district, located in the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, we have geographical access to abortion. However, there are invisible barriers, particularly in targeted communities within the area, which obscures and blocks this right. Access to abortion is a fundamental right. Our collective aims to work in support of ensuring that right, through the simple provision of support. We aim to combat these barriers through welcoming support, holding space, and firm advocacy.
Equity: We aim to provide relief from societal barriers encountered by individuals from targeted communities and groups. We acknowledge that the rights and freedoms of individuals from targeted communities are at risk. We also affirm and respect the unique lived experiences of all persons.
Inclusion: We acknowledge the history of mistreatment of BIPOC, transgender and gender non-conforming people, and people from targeted communities by the medical community. We aim to provide welcoming and affirming support for all persons in need of abortion without prejudice or bias. We value and respect the need to be acknowledged and accepted in one's own body and identity. We also recognize that self-advocacy in vulnerable positions is difficult. Our practice is to support and advocate for all individuals in need of an abortion.
